Phase III · The Present Age
A historical parenthesis bridging the first-century past and the apocalyptic future — defined by unseen cosmic warfare and the global spread of the Gospel through every generation. The Kingdom of God is not absent in this age; it is present in its appointed mode: spiritual, internal, and advancing through its ambassadors.
Phase 3 Mandate — The Ambassador Commission. The Kingdom Within (Luke 17:21): not geopolitical, planted in the regenerate heart — righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit (Rom 14:17). Ambassadors of Heaven (2 Cor 5:20): the King reigns from heaven; his emissaries carry his message of reconciliation across every generation. Heavenly Citizenship (Phil 3:20): the believer's true allegiance is to a Kingdom not yet manifest on earth, from which the King himself shall descend at the Last Trump.

"And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ."

The Dragon redirects his war against the multigenerational, global Body of Christ encompassing both Jew and Gentile grafted into one olive tree. This redirection triggers the highways-and-byways commission (Matt 22:9). The present age's mandate is the εὐαγγέλιον αἰώνιον (the Everlasting Gospel, Rev 14:6), grounded not in Sinai but in the Noahic berit olam.
The Protoevangelium Backdrop — Genesis 3:15. Revelation 12 is the full-scale unveiling of the enmity announced in the Garden:
"And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."

The Head Wound — Calvary: the Serpent's head received the decisive, mortal blow; the Ascension placed him beyond the Dragon's reach. The Heel Strike — The Remnant Still on Earth: the believing remnant of the Woman's seed (Rev 12:17). The present age is not Dragon-victory but Dragon-desperation — a defeated enemy striking at the heel of a body whose head is already enthroned (Rev 12:12).
The Causal Chain — Ascension · Expulsion · Persecution · AD 70. Christ names the Cross as the moment of the prince's expulsion (John 12:31 — νῦν, "now"; John 16:11 — "the prince of this world is judged"). The sequence: 1 · Ascension (Rev 12:5; Acts 1:9; Dan 7:13); 2 · War in Heaven (Rev 12:7–9); 3 · Persecution (Rev 12:13, 17); 4 · Destruction of Jerusalem (Dan 12:1; Matt 24:21).
Unit 3.2
The Remnant of Her Seed (Rev 12:17). Identity — the global, multigenerational Church — both Jew and Gentile grafted together into the single olive tree (Romans 11) after the first-century harvest of the 144,000. Keep the Commandments of God — faithful covenant obedience to the moral law of Christ, as distinct from the now-completed ceremonial law of Moses. Have the Testimony of Jesus Christ — the witness of the Gospel proclaimed in every generation — the central target the Dragon seeks to silence.

Ephesians 6:12 — The Present Warfare Defined:
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

The Dragon uses deception, institutional corruption, and spiritual pressure to attack the Body of Christ in every generation.
The Jerusalem Pattern — The Same Tactics, A New Theatre. Jerusalem (66–70 CE): internal — three factions at war within the walls; external — the Roman legions under Titus as divine judgement. The Church Age: internal — division within believing families and local churches through deception; external — persecution and institutional pressure. The pattern is identical in structure, different only in theatre. The armour of Ephesians 6:10–18 is given because the warfare is two-fronted.
